ÉRIC LE PAPE
Painter

As a Breton painter, I have been immersed in colour since I was a boy, my feet buried in the seaweed and my hands freely applying thick layers of ultramarine and cerulean blues with palette knives.

AN EXPLOSION OF COLOURS, REFLECTIONS AND LIGHTS

Éric Le Pape paints landscapes and other sceneries with a multitude of flat tints of colour applied with a palette knife; and that is how his paintings take the form of sculptures.

Éric Le Pape also has a talent for combining contrasting, superimposed raw colours as well as for reflections, shadows and lights that magically merge with the elements. As if the scene only existed to “provide” reflections or light waiting to be spread with a palette knife.

Water – be it the sea, a puddle along the shore or even on a waterlogged road after a heavy rainfall – is beneficial to those who are inspired by its reflections and lights.
